2016 Conference Resolutions

At the 2016 CGEU Conference in Los Angeles, California, we passed 8 resolutions; you can find a link to each resolution below.

Resolution 1: Resolution to Participate in Trade Unions for Energy Democracy (submitted by Anne Pasek (NYU) and Todd Vachon (UConn) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 2: Resolution to Establish the Graduate Workers’ Day (constitutional amendment – submitted by Shannon Ikebe (UC Berkeley) and Anna Waltman (UMass Amherst) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 3: Resolution for the CGEU to join the BDS Movement (submitted by Alyssa Goldstein (UMass Amherst) and Nathan Pensler (NYU) – 20 in favor, 3 opposed, 5 abstentions)

Resolution 4: Resolution for Engagement with COCAL (submitted by Derek Sahota (Simon Fraser) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 5: Resolution to Establish Regional CGEU Meetings Between Annual Conferences (submitted by Anna Waltman (UMass Amherst) and Danielle Dirocco (Rhode Island) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 6: Resolution to Address the Inequitable Treatment of International Graduate Student Workers (submitted by Benjamin Nolan (UMass Amherst), Katty Alhayek (UMass Amherst), Adam Garfield (UMass Amherst), Lola Loustaunau (Oregon) and Hayley Roud (Stony Brook) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 7: Resolution on Taking an Active Anti-Racist Stand in Our Unions and Support the Movement for Black Lives (submitted by B.B. Buchanan (UC Davis), Blanca Misse (UC Berkeley) and Alan-Michael Weatherford (Washington) – adopted unanimously)

Resolution 8: Resolution for Democratic Determination of Membership Definition by Grad Unions (submitted by Claudia Carrera (NYU) and Jessica Feldman (NYU) – adopted unanimously)
